The Promontory Heights Dental team love working with kids! It's our mission to help them maintain beautiful, healthy smiles for now, and as they grow up. To this end, we strive to create positive dental experiences for kids at our Child-friendly, fun, and peaceful office.

When children develop a sincere and keen interest in maintaining their own oral health early on, it sets them up for oral health success later in life. At Promontory Heights Dental, we focus on helping children establish positive oral health habits that will take them into adulthood, with preventive practices and education as our primary tools.

The First Dental Check-up

We recommend that parents bring their children in for a visit with the dentist at the first sign of the first tooth, or around the time of their first birthday.

This early initial visit is an opportunity for the dentist to diagnose, monitor and more effectively treat any issues that may be developing.

Frequency of check-ups

Just like adults, children are recommended to visit our dentists every six months for a routine check-up and professional cleaning. Depending on the child’s oral health risks, the dentist may even recommend more frequent visits. We will always devise a treatment plan specific to your child’s needs and status of their oral health.

For anxious children

Our office offers nitrous oxide sedation for anxious children. It is a form of minimal sedation provided in a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen that the child breathes in through a very comfortable nosepiece. Upon inhalation the child feels calm and relaxed during their treatment appointment. The biggest advantage of nitrous oxide is that there are no after-effects. They spring back to normal and are ready to carry on with the rest of their day as soon as the sedation is turned off.
