What Are Dental Implants?

If you’re looking to replace missing or extracted teeth, dental implants might be the perfect solution for you. These surgically installed artificial teeth are designed to permanently fill in the gaps and help you achieve a complete, beautiful smile. Choose dental implants for a reliable and lasting way to restore your confidence and dental health.

Unlike dental bridges or dentures, dental implants are securely placed into your jawbone, providing a stable and permanent solution that feels and functions naturally without needing support from adjacent teeth.

Your Dental Implant Journey

Although the entire dental implant process can vary from patient to patient, our general process is as follows:

Our dental professionals will examine your mouth and take X-rays to ensure your jawbone is healthy enough for dental implants.

We’ll explain the dental implant process, healing time, care instructions, and answer all your questions to ensure your comfort.

Once we have confirmed your candidacy, we will schedule an appointment for your implant surgery.

After local anesthesia or sedation is administered, we insert the metal post into your jawbone. You’ll then rest and heal before we add your crown, ensuring your new tooth is strong and stable.

Once your implant has healed, we’ll take impressions of it and your gums to create a custom crown, that will blend in with your natural teeth.

Once your tissue and jawbone have healed, we’ll securely attach your custom crown to the implant using an abutment. We’ll ensure it fits perfectly, aligns correctly, and feels comfortable.

Caring For Your Implants

Because dental implants are permanent and cannot be removed, they are treated the same as natural teeth. To care for your new tooth, you should be:

  • Brushing for 2 minutes twice per day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste.
  • Flossing daily.
  • Going for annual dental exams and cleanings every 4 months to keep your natural teeth and your dental implants clean and healthy.
  • X-rays once per year to check your implant and bone health.
